Topographic view of desert rain in the Channel Country.
In central Queensland there is an area called the Channel Country. Its a huge flat desert like basin that occasionally fills with rain water. The rainwater slowly flows from northern Queensland into the basin and it can take 2 to 3 months to get there.
This water eventually moves further south from the Channel Country and eventually ends up in the Artesian Basin (underground water) and South Australia. This journey also takes many many months or years to travel several thousands of kilometers.
